Embracing Information Communication Technology (ICTs) world over has been associated with economic growth in many countries. This has led to the need for specialised skills and personnel in the field of ICT. The Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (Ph.D. CS) programme is intended to address the shortage of human resources in ICTs and contribute positively to the economy of the country and the world at large. The program provides a unique opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge in computer science discipline. This program is specially designed to tackle the challenge faced not only in the Zambian ICT industry but in Africa.

AIM: The aim of the Ph.D. in Computer Science is to develop scholars who are able to independently carry out scholarly work in the computing and IT sciences and contribute to addressing current and future challenges in the IT industry by applying advanced research methodologies.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Applicants should have a:

  1. Masters’ Degree in computer science or any related field from a recognized university or other institutions approved by the Senate and/or HEA.

  2. Bachelors’ Degree in computer science or any related field from a recognized university or other institutions approved by Senate and/or HEA.

  3. School Certificate with 5 credits or better including English and Mathematics.

  4. Submission of a research proposal in the area of interest.

DURATION OF STUDY

The course of study for the award of the PhD in Computere Science degree by research and thesis is at least three (3) years and not more than six (6) years from the date of first registration.
