AIM: The aim of this programme is to equip candidates with knowledge and skills in Data Science which can be applied in various sectors of the country in order to extract useful information from raw data for sound decision making the country needs.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
To qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Data Science programme, applicants must hold:
- Passes at credit level (1-5) in at least five (5) subjects in the Zambian School Certificate or Cambridge Overseas School Certificate. The five ‘O’ Level credits or better should include English and Mathematics.
- Qualifications other than the Zambian School Certificate or Cambridge Overseas School Certificate or the General Certificate of Education may be accepted provided they are approved as equivalent by the Senate and Examinations Council of Zambia..
DURATION OF STUDY
The course of study for the award of the BSc DS degree shall be completed in a period of:
- Not less than four and not more than six academic years in the case of full-time students;
- Not less than five and not more than seven academic years in the case of evening students;
- Not less than four and not more than seven academic years in the case of distance education students;
- Not less than five and not more than seven academic years in the case of part time students;
- Provided that for candidates awarded exemptions on account of prior learning, the duration may be shorter, but not less than one year.
