The demand for qualified lecturers and teachers of accounting courses in colleges and secondary schools has made it necessary to introduce the BAccEd with Education degree programme in order to raise the standards of teaching/lecturing in these institutions. The collaboration between UNZA and ZCAS presents an opportunity to produce a product that will help to raise the standard of teaching accounting in the country and the region.
The aim of this programme is to equip candidates with knowledge and skills in the fields of accountancy and commerce and pedagogy in order for them to teach accountancy and commerce effectively.
To qualify for admission to the BAccEd degree programme an applicant must have a minimum of five credits at ‘O’ Level including English and Mathematics and must satisfy the entry requirements of the BAccEd programme which are:
- First year of Bachelor of Science with Education or BEDMAS
- Diploma in Secondary Education Science and Mathematics
- ZICA technician, CIMA-CBA, ACCA-FIA
- Any relevant three year accountancy diploma from a reputable college or university
- At least three ‘A’ level passes including Mathematics or equivalent
- Any degree from a recognised institution.
DURATION OF STUDY
The programme runs for four years on full time, part time and distance education and not more than five academic years in case of any eventualities or unforeseen circumstances.
